“So I start with the assumption that my own sin and selfishness and cultural bondage makes it almost impossible for me to feel the wonder of God’s purpose for marriage. Consider a vision of marriage higher and deeper and stronger and more glorious than anything this culture- or perhaps you- ever imagined. The greatness and glory of marriage is beyond our ability to think or feel without divine revelation and without the illumination and awakening work of the Holy Spirit. The world cannot know what marriage is without learning it from God. The natural man does not have the capacity to see or receive or feel the wonder of what God has designed for marriage to be. …Set free from small, worldly, culturally contaminated, self-centered, Christ-ignoring, God-neglecting, romance-intoxicated, unbiblical views of marriage. The most foundational thing to see from the Bible about marriage is that it is God’s doing. And ultimately, marriage is the display of God. The meaning of marriage is the display of the convent-keeping love between Christ and his people. “
What a portrait of Christ and His love for the Church! What a humble reminder to believers of God’s design for marriage patterns Christ’s love for the Church. When pride and selfish attitude’s get in the way, we are inundated with constant messages from our culture about “love”. Remember to turn your eyes to God, who created marriage for His glory! What a beautiful reminder, today and everyday…
The past few weeks we traveled to Michigan, Tennessee and southern Indiana. Jan taught Bible Council to the 5th and 6th grade girls at Bethesda. Tomorrow we travel to Illinois to present at Salisbury Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains, Illinois. And on Wednesday we present to a church here in Indianapolis. Praise the Lord we had two churches vote to support us in the past week! We have two more churches praying about partnering with us. We travel to Michigan, Illinois, and Indianapolis through the end of February. God continues to stretch us and grow our faith as we wait upon Him to get us to the field. We started another Bible class, Hermeneutics – Bible Interpretation, with Moody Bible Institute distance learning. Class is going well.
- Favorable test results from Andrew’s latest CT scan.
- Lauren’s 19 credit hours at Moody Bible Institute and planning her wedding in December.
- Business trip to China for Phil, Andrew, and Dennis (their boss) – February 28th.
- Teammates Tim and Leandra Hawes visas to arrive so they can leave for PNG.
- God’s perfect timing in getting us to the field.
