Why Are We Going To Papua New Guinea?

You might think OBEDIENCE would be our first answer if someone were to ask us why we are going to Papua New Guinea. Jesus is the prime example of obedience because He was obedient unto death, even death on a cross (Phil. 2:8). We also want to be obedient to our Heavenly Father as was Christ. Obedience is an essential part of the Christian faith and should be shown to God out of love and humility, not out of dutiful submission to one in authority. But is it really obedience when God has given us a desire to go? We want to go to PNG. We can’t wait to get there. So while obedience is a necessary ingredient, it is not the reason we are going. LOVE and COMPASSION may be another answer that you might think we would give as an answer to why we are going to Papua New Guinea. We are to bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2). Jesus said, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another”. The dreadful drought and famine currently being experienced in PNG has provided an opportunity to show love and compassion. Our team has purchased 5 tons of rice and a tanker of water to help meet the needs of the people. While love and compassion is a necessary ingredient, it is not the reason we are going. PRAYER! The people in PNG need our prayers. We have given out 1000’s of wristbands that say “Pray for Papua New Guinea”. Prayer is a way of bringing our specific requests to the Father’s ears. Jesus prayed to the Father and so should we. We ask that you would continue to prayer for the people in PNG. Prayer is a powerful thing. While it is a necessary ingredient, it is not the reason we are going.

God has clearly revealed Himself, His power and His divine nature, to the people of PNG through creation (Rom. 1). God has also revealed Himself to them through the law that He has written on their hearts (Rom. 2). But they cannot truly know God through their own wisdom (1 Cor. 1). The only way they can come to know God is through the preaching and teaching of CHRIST’S DEATH, BURIAL, and RESURRECTION. By preaching peace through Jesus Christ, some by faith will believe resulting in God’s glorification. The reason we are going to PNG is ultimately for GOD’S GLORIFICATION by the redeemed from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.

News From The Field
Drought Relief and Clinic Ministry
The need for help in PNG is growing. Our team is partnering with local churches to spread drought relief while sharing the love of Christ. The hope is to work with 20 churches and give 1/2 ton of rice to each church so they can reach their communities (each ½ ton of rice costs $600). Many people have poor water supplies. The team wants to make water available to the patients that come to the medical clinic to take home in 5 gallon jugs. Every drop helps. Please Pray as this outreach can touch many lives and let us know if you would like to help.
